Instants

Teo Esguerra

The invention of instant film produced new approaches to recording images, settings, people, and landscapes. Teo Esguerra's solo exhibition "Instants" features a selection from the artist's collection, spanning over a decade of his practice. Esguerra notes that these photographs constitute feelings that are "fleeting and infinite." Every image presents a single moment that has materialized instantaneously, and like memories, they remain unique and can never be duplicated in the same way again.

Teo Esguerra (b. 1990) explores the beauty found in imperfection, impermanence, and transience. He uses vintage film equipment and a makeshift darkroom, resulting in misprints or markings that he embraces as part of his process. Esguerra received his BFA (Advertising) from Far Eastern University. He is currently undertaking his MFA at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
